Advanced Certification Testing – Guidelines & Handbook
Exam Structure
The certification exam consists of four questions (each with options to choose from):
1 Theory Question
3 Practical Questions
Theory Section
Students will answer one theory question (up to 200 words).
Topics may include:
History and evolution of Madhubani painting
Current and changing trends
Effects of globalization, social media, and artificial intelligence on Madhubani art
Responses should demonstrate clarity, understanding, and critical thinking.
Practical Section
The practical portion includes three drawing/painting tasks:
Students will be required to draw, outline, and paint.
One task will involve drawing on a fabric piece (provided after registration and payment are completed).
Students must demonstrate proficiency in:
Basic elements of Madhubani painting: kachni, bharni, bundi, etc.
Drawing male and female figures
Drawing animals and birds
Applying detailing and stylistic techniques learned throughout the course
Creating traditional border designs
2. Required Supplies
Students must have the following materials ready:
Letter-size paper (white cardstock recommended; printer paper acceptable)
Fabric piece (provided by the studio after payment)
Class paints (acrylics/as used in the course)
Brushes
Black and colored paint markers
Palette, paper towels, water cup
Pencils, erasers, ruler
Important: Write your name on every sheet of paper submitted.
3. Exam Logistics
Duration
The exam is 3 hours.
Fee
$300+Tax = $323.70
Online Option
The exam may be taken online.
Students must schedule the exam at least 2 weeks in advance with the certification coordinator.
4. Submission Process
Immediately after completing the exam, take clear photographs of all sheets.
Send the photos to the coordinator without making any changes afterwards.
Submit the physical exam sheets by dropping them off at the studio within one week of the exam date.
5. Results & Certification
Results will be announced within 6 months.
Certificates will be awarded only upon meeting all the required criteria.
