International Children’s Friendship Festival

The ICFF, the International Children's Friendship Festival, is an event held annually in Seattle to celebrate world cultures and traditions. This year we took part in the event with a booth representing India by sharing culture and showcasing students’ artwork.  Overall, the event was an enormous success. Congratulations to all the students who showed their works and participated at this international cultural summit: Dhiya, Sruthi, Druthi, Pehal, Snigdha, Abhay, Anvika, Anvi, Khushi, and Meera.

Seattle Art Museum

On May 6th, Deepti Designs was invited to partner with Ragamala group which is a non-profit organization working in support of Hindustani Classical Music. We displayed artworks by our teaching artist, Ms. Nikita Thakalath and three student artists, Mahima, Shrita and Aditi. It was a wonderful event; over 100 people stopped by to look at the Madhubani artwork exhibition. Shrita and Mahima also volunteered at the event and interacted with the audience. They were both excellent at explaining in detail the process and context of the composition of each painting. Ms. Nikita Thakalath led the event and said we received many compliments and appreciation for our student’s artwork.

International Day at Redmond Middle School

On International Day at Redmond Middle School, Deepti Desgins’ student artist Khushi Garg presented her intricate Madhubani paintings for an exhibition. The event was held on April 25th with many countries across Asia, the Americas, Africa, and Europe sharing culture and unique traditions.

Students presented a variety of different cultural features including paintings, music, dance, singing, crafts, food, festivals, history, and clothing. Khushi’s paintings gathered a lot of attention and interest, with audience visiting her display with very kind compliments. As quoted by her mom, “the patterns, color combinations, concept, and details all generated a lot of questions and appreciation.” Deepti Designs encourages other students to take advantage of similar opportunities to showcase their works and share the beauty and traditions that the Indian heritage visual arts’ embodies!

Crossroad Mall

Artist Srinidhi Muralidharan is a junior at International School in Bellevue and recently presented her art at Crossroads Mall. The art show was held from May 4th to May 16th for all Bellevue School District students.

15 different schools participated, ranging from elementary to high school. Srinidhi exhibited her village scene painting and even featured her art on Bellevue School District’s official Instagram page! Parents, kids, and seniors - all enjoyed the art as a break from their shopping and eating activities, and it was a wonderful opportunity for young artists like Srinidhi to showcase their talent at a diverse platform like the Crossroad mall.

Upcoming Opportunity - Sno-Isle Library, Sultan

Deepti Designs has an upcoming opportunity at the Sno-Isle Library in Sultan, WA. Four artists are invited to shadow Ms. Agrawal in a Humanities Speaker Bureau presentation. Out of the four artists, atleast one artist should have finished their Kohbar painting. If this sparks your interest, please reach out to Ms. Deepti Agrawal. The event is on June 29, from 11:00am – 12:30pm.

Upcoming Opportunity - Redmond Children’s Business Fair

Youth4Us has invited us to participate in their 3rd annual Children’s Business Fair. Our artists have been part of all their past fairs and have received great response from the show. This is a great avenue providing kids with the end-to-end exposure on how to plan and run a small-scale business, in a team.

Right from product planning, branding, inventory management, finance, marketing, sales and after-sale feedback, the kids experience the entire life-cycle of running a business. Some experienced past kids and their moms are available to mentor the kids and help them in the overall execution of the project. We have an opening for 4 artists. If interested, please submit your names to Nikita Thakalath (425-894-5984) (text only please) latest by May 21st.

Details of the event -
Date: July 8th
Time: 1pm to 5pm
