The monochrome tiles have been blended with the evergreen Madhubani style. The checkerboard pattern has been a vital part of ancient world-art history and is extensively used in Islamic Geometry, Moroccan Motifs and even in old rustic Mithila painting. The Mughal and Rajasthani architecture used variations of these patterns for flooring and for the cut-glass work in their windows and roshan daans.

Floral and vines, on the other hand have been widely used for border designs as well as space fillers in most of the Indian folk art forms.
